Name Game

Dan and I had a hard time picking a boy and girl name while we were pregnant. We wanted names that couldn't be shortened (which is funny because we both go by shortened versions of our names) and names that aren't common. Dan wanted biblical names and I preferred classic names, not necessarily biblical names. We obviously managed to find two girl names we both loved. Naomi means beautiful or pleasant and Claire means clear or bright.
Naomi has so many nicknames that we call her- Nay, Nay Nay, Nayboo, Naybour, Naybelline, Naybob, Claire Bear, Eclaire...

when we have kids i want names that CAN be shortened because i hate having a name that can't be shortened. i have never had a nickname...just boring lael. i think naomi is a beautiful name (i am all for classic names) and i like nay for short. it's sweet!

Lael is beautiful and uncommon. Love it. Where did the name come from? Were you named after someone?

my mom has a cousin named Lael and my mom liked the name so she used it for me. It's also in the Bible (Num. 3:24) but it's a man. I know of another Lael but it's a guy.
