Pumpkin Chocolate Tiramisu

I made this for my birthday party and it was a huge hit! It is simple to make, and delicious. The recipe is from one of my favorite cookbooks, "Sugar" by Anna Olson.

Pumpkin Filling:
1.5 cups whipping cream
1 Tbsp vanilla
8 oz. cream cheese at room temp.
3/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp brandy
2 cups pumpkin puree
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cloves

For assembly:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 tsp vanilla
2 pkg.'s chocolate wafer cookies

1. Whip cream to medium peaks, stir in vanilla and chill.
2. Beat cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Stir in brandy, pumpkin puree, and spices and beat until smooth.
3. Fold in whipping cream and chill until ready to assemble
4. To assemble, heat 1 cup sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Stir in 1 tsp vanilla and remove from heat.
5. Dip wafer cookies in syrup briefly and line the bottom of an 8 cup (2L) trifle dish.
6. Spoon 1 quarter of the pumpkin filling over the cookies and place another layer of soaked cookies over mousse. Repeat layering with mousse and cookies, finishing with the mousse.
7. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
8. Enjoy!
